As I prepare to (finally!) retire, I wanted to send a note of appreciation for the tremendous coaching and team building services that you have provided to my division over the past years.

It’s interesting, and a compliment to your abilities, that you often get the really “difficult” people: managers who are in denial about their biggest behavioural problems, or who focus constantly on the “IQ” side of development and fail to see the need for an improvement in “EQ”, whether it be to improve leadership of a team, build better relationships or manage upwards more effectively.

In every case, your one-on-one coaching has produced an awareness that was not there before and a measurable improvement in behaviour and performance. And in every case, the individual has enjoyed the experience, emerging as a more rounded human being.

I think that last part is a real tribute to your skills: your ability to identify, almost instinctively, what makes an individual tick and where their problems lie is one thing.
